It took until midnight on deadline day, but Tottenham Hotspur have finally sold off one of the players who had no place in the squad. Third choice right back Alan Hutton, who arrived for £9m from Rangers just over two years ago, has been sold to Aston Villa on a permanent transfer. He will link up again with Jermaine Jenas, who moved to Aston Villa on a one year loan.
Hutton has been much maligned here at Cartilage Free Captain, and it was pretty obvious that the development of Kyle Walker spelled the end for the Scottish international, whose performances in a Spurs shirt left a lot to be desired. Still, Alex McLeish needed a fullback, and Hutton isn't a terrible option at the price, which is rumored to be £3m.
And finally, the incredibly stubborn Daniel Levy takes a serious loss on a bad purchase. Hutton has been sold on for 1/3 of what we paid for him. Honestly? We didn't get a bad deal today.
