If you have a sensitive gag reflex and gag easily now would be a good time to stop reading. Everyone who would be best off looking away has by now, right? Good. Well, Harry Redknapp admitted on Friday that he would be interested in bringing David Beckham to Tottenham. Yeah, that David Beckham. I know. Go ahead and cry now because we know that nothing good can come of this.
"I don't think you would ever say no to David Beckham. He would bring a lot to any club," Redknapp said. "He came and trained with us last year. He was fantastic to have around the place as a player and as a person. He was a top-class professional and he's the kind of lad you would like around the place. He is someone the young lads look up to and he is a great role model for anybody."
Beckham will be available on a free transfer this January so he wouldn't even cost a penny. That is if you ignore what will surely be huge wages, but he probably makes that back in shirt sales anyways. Unfortunately, this seems like an actual possibility. QPR are also in on Beckham, but Harry sure wants him. Thankfully, this doesn't appear to be anything more than Harry's interest right now.
"What are the chances of us signing him? I have no idea," Redknapp said. "I'll be honest. I don't have a clue. I wouldn't know the financial situation or what it would take. I have never discussed it with the chairman. Would I like him here? Of course I would."
Let's hope it's never discussed with the chairman. Becks still hits a gorgeous ball (as I'm writing this he just hit a pinpoint 40 yard ball for the Galaxy), but he can't really run anymore and he was hardly a runner when he wasn't 36 years old. Oh yeah, he also has back spasms that both him regularly. No, no, no!
