According to Sky Sports News Tottenham Hotspur Manager Harry Redknapp is ready to let Brazilian goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes leave in the January transfer window should an offer come in for him. Gomes is believed to be upset at having been left out of the squad entirely after having started Spurs first game of the season against Hearts in the Europa League.
"He's not happy and he's eyeing a January move," said Redknapp. "If the chance comes for him to play elsewhere, I'm sure he'll take it. I've not bombed out Gomes and made him No.3 keeper but we decided Carlo Cudicini would be better on the bench."
Brad Friedel has been Tottenham's first choice keeper in the Premier League this season and, despite lopsided results against Manchester City and Manchester United, the American has look good in goal. It will be interesting to see who Redknapp decides to start on Thursday against PAOK. I wouldn't be surprised if Carlo Cudicini is the man in goal for Spurs.
I'm certainly one of the biggest Gomes fans on this site so it's clear that I disagree with this. If for no other reason than I don't have a lot of confidence in Cudicini as our back-up. Hopefully, Gomes gets a run of games in the cups and hands in some stellar performances, but chances are this whole fiasco will have shot his confidence and he'll be awful. We'll sell him for a couple million pounds, meaning we'll take a loss since he cost nearly £8 million.
