Ballin' is a habit. Tottenham are on a roll, coming off a West Brom league win and a destruction of Cheltenham in the FA Cup with the second stringers. And as Tottenham's points continue to rise, the two Manchester clubs continue to drop points and find themselves with thinner squads. With Manchester City now having to deal with the combined loss of the Toure brothers for the ACON and a Vincent Kompany suspension, now looks the time for Tottenham to make their move if they want to be title contenders.
Ever since the second game this season, Tottenham have had the mystical "game in hand," due to the postponement of the opening Everton fixture due to the London riots. It is difficult to overstate just how important this match is. A win is the key to keep Spurs in the title race, and three points today would draw the team level with United and just three points behind City.
In the way this week are those Toffees (AKA Amurrrrica). Everton have been in mediocre form, and played many first XI players in their weekend FA Cup destruction of Tamworth. The club will look to lean heavily on loan arrival Landon Donovan, while Tim Howard looks to face a barrage in net.
The Writers Prediction League continues. We all picked the correct result but missed on the score versus West Brom. The rules remain, one point for a correct prediction, a bonus point for getting the score correct. Here are the current standings:
Name | Score |
Ryan | 15 |
Ashlock | 13 |
Mechanick | 11 |
The Roosevelts | 10 |
Kevin | 9 |
Evan | 8 |
This week's predictions after the jump:
Kevin: This is going to be a weird game where all of the goals are bad and come from mistakes or unlucky bounces. Two go our way. 2-1 Spurs
Ashlock: America plays ok. Landycakes scores. I am sad. 1-1 Draw
Mechanick: Everton tried in the FA Cup. They also have Tony Hibbert vs. Gareth Bale. 1-0 Spurs
Ryan: We won't play well, but Everton have negative 12 players healthy and it's at the Lane. 2-0 Spurs
The Roosevelts: Livermore is no Parker on the pitch and in the hair department. 2-2 Draw
Evan: Spurs aren't too healthy, but Everton is worse off & take care of business at home. 1-0 Spurs
