More positive news coming out of the Tottenham Hotspur youth ranks. A wave of new players have blooded in with the first team through the Europa League. The Spurs U-19s have already advancing to the upcoming quarterfinal of the Nextgen Cup, where they will face Liverpool.

Not to be outdone, the largely similar U-18 side defeated Cardiff City 2-1 at the new Cardiff City Stadium in the fourth round of the FA Youth Cup. The team was boosted by a two goal in two minute blast before halftime, with Jack Munns and Souleymane Coulibaly scoring the goals.

Coach Alex Inglethorpe said on the barrage: "We opened the scoring when we broke down the right, good work from Souleymane and Shaq Coulthirst, the ball went into Jack Munns who took a good touch and smashed it in. A minute later Ollie Modeste, who was magnificent down the right, got past four Cardiff players, crossed and Souleymane managed to pull away from his marker and headed home from eight yards."

The victory means Tottenham advances to the fifth round and an away trip to either Leicester City or Charlton Athletic. Still, perhaps the most encouraging news is the continued emergence of Souleymane Coulibaly. A summer purchase after a Golden Boot winning U-17 World Cup with the Ivory Coast, Coulibaly has continued to score an impress through all youth competitions. Coulibaly now looks a contender for a possible late season loan, and could possibly earn a serious look at the first team entering next season.
