Bolton Boss Owen Coyle To Spend Transfer Revenue on Giovani Dos Santos

With the sale of Gary Cahill finally completed Bolton Wanderers now have some money to spend in the transfer market. Apparently some of that money will be used to purchase a "replacement" for Cahill. That replacement is apparently American defender Tim Ream of the New York Red Bulls. Ream, however, will likely not cost anywhere close to the £7 million Bolton received from Chelsea for Cahill. So, what will Owen Coyle do with the rest of that money?

If I were in charge of Bolton I would be looking at attacking reinforcements. That seems to be Coyle's plan. Rumor has it that the Bolton boss is targeting Tottenham attacking midfielder Giovani Dos Santos. The 22 year-old Mexican international has found it difficult to break into the first team under Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp and a change of scenery may be just what Dos Santos needs.

I think we all know how we here at Cartilage Free Captain feel about Dos Santos. He's a talented player who never really got a fair shake at Tottenham. I certainly think that Gio has the talent to make it in the Premier League and getting an opportunity to go to a team like Bolton where he could play week in and week out would be excellent for him.

The problem, however, is that the rumored transfer fee is much too low for Spurs chairman Daniel Levy to accept. Over the summer Udinese bid a reported €13 million for Dos Santos, that bid was accepted, but Dos Santos held out for a move to Sevilla that never materialized. I can't imagine Levy accepting a bid of £4 million pounds for Dos Santos. One thing is clear though, it's time for Gio to go.
