Could Jose Mourinho Be Harry Redknapp's Replacement At Tottenham Hotspur

Speculation continues to mount that Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp will leave Spurs at the end of this season to take the job of England manager after Fabio Capello leaves following Euro 2012. We've certainly discussed it to no end here on the site and in our podcast. We've come up with a number of possible replacements, but one we've never seriously talked about is Jose Mourinho.

The current Real Madrid and former Chelsea manager, Mourinho, seems to be souring on the atmosphere that surrounds Real Madrid. Mourinho has often expressed an interest to returning to England and many now believe that White Hart Lane is the most logical destination for the Portugese tactician.

First things first, we do not definitively know that Harry Redknapp will be leaving to take the England job. The FA may not even consider Redknapp for the position and even if they do there's not necessarily a guarantee that Harry would take the job. Second, the idea of leaving Real Madrid for Tottenham Hotspur, no matter what the atmosphere around the club, is just silly. Third, Mourinho has long been rumored to be the most likely successor to Alex Ferguson at Manchester United, which is a move that makes much more sense.

I, for one, would love to have Mourinho as the next manager of Tottenham Hotspur, but it seems, at least on paper, to be ridiculous. There are a number of other, potentially cheaper, options for Tottenham Hotspur, but if the team really wanted to take the step from top four contender to legitimate title contender year-in and year-out Mourinho would certainly be the man to do that.

What are your thoughts on the possibility of Mourinho moving to Spurs? Is it realistic? Would you want him?
