Pavlyuchenko Reportedly About To Be Sold To Lokomotiv Moscow

Reports are coming out that confirm that Tottenham Hotspur striker Roman Pavlyuchenko has been sold to Russian side Lokomotiv Moscow. Figures vary on the value of the deal, but the most recent and reputable number comes from the BBC, who are reporting a £8 million deal.

The Pavluychenko deal seems to have keyed a chain reaction, as Pav's departure seems to mean that Everton's Louis Saha will come to Tottenham to replace the Russian striker. The Russian Transfer Deadline does not end until February 24th, but Daniel Levy seems to want Roman's exit to raise funds for his replacement to be acquired tonight.

Pavlyunchenko, 30, arrived from Spartak Moscow in 2008 for £14 million. But Pavlyunchenko has continually underwhelmed at Tottenham, and despite his best season yet in 2010-11, Pavluychenko has been firmly second choice this season under the loanee Emmanuel Adebayor. His return to Russia will find him at his former club Spartak's fiercest rivals, as he tries to regain the form that helped him to make the team of the tournament at Euro 2008. With the next edition of the Euros coming up this summer, look for Pav to push for the playing time and form that can make him a starter once again with the Russian National Team.
