Officially Official: Steven Pienaar Joins Everton On Loan

Pienaar returns to the Toffees

Everton FC have confirmed themselves that the Toffees will be re-signing Steven Pienaar on loan until the end of the season. Since this was done at the absolute last minute and the deal Milos Krasic was not completed, there was likely to be a significant loan fee that made this an attractive proposition for Daniel Levy. Pienaar has played sparingly since joining the club a year ago, partially due to form and partially due to injuries.

Niko Kranjcar started on Tuesday and played very well in Tottenham Hotspur's win over Wigan, while Giovani dos Santos was incredibly not sold in January and is still on the books. While Pienaar was generally preferred over these two players in the last year, Spurs have two other backup wing/attacking midfield players on the roster. Additionally, Pienaar's wages are very high for a backup player.

Pienaar will re-join a number of players that he's played with before, so this is likely a very good last-minute pickup for David Moyes and Everton.
