Happy Friday, Spursland! Oh yes, club football is back tomorrow and it is back in a big way. Chelsea at the Lane. It does not get much bigger than that, my friends. It is time to really put all of England on notice. This is our time.
And now the "news"
AVB Offers Rose Support- Sky Sports
You know what would be nice? If UEFA also offered similar support to players and fans that have to deal with this bullshit. And that is what it is. Sorry if you don't approve of the language, but it is bullshit.
Andy Town Snakes Is Not Out For Revenge- Telegraph
When AVB says things like this I cannot help but picture him sitting on a park bench reading The Art of War. He is just so tacitly sound and he knows that when going to battle/a football match with someone you do not let it get personal. Not even if that entity, along with the press, kind of gave you the shortest end of an already short stick.
Chelsea Take Further Action Against Terry- We Ain't Got No History
I'd like UEFA to take note that the suspected fine by Chelsea to Terry, who according to the internet is worth $40 million, is roughly 13.75 times as much as they fined Lazio for something rather similar. Lazio, however, is worth considerably more. I don't have an exact figure, but according to, once again, the internet, the total value of just the players is over £100 million. Seems like maybe Lazio's fine was just a tad bit low, don't you think?
The Best Punishment For Racism Is No Punishment At All- SB Nation Soccer
Andi Thomas once again is the preverbal hammer hitting the nail on the head when it comes to the problem of racism in football. Unrelated to that, I'd like to volunteer for his proposed position to kick FA's that ignore racism in the balls. I think I would be a great choice.
Skip Bayless Has Had A Lot Of Sex, Certainly More Than You- SB Nation
Shakespeare once wrote a great line that really speaks to the common people: "first thing we do is kill all the layers". Now far be it from me to criticize Ole Billy Shakes, but times have changed and we now live in the PTI/Around The Horn era. A time when aging, rapidly moving toward irrelevant, gasbag sports "reporters" cut bad impressions of pro wrestling promos for hours a day in a quest to further their own celebrity. So in the interest of public discourse, might I suggest that we kill all of the lawyers second and maybe polish off Tony Kornheiser and his peers first?
