Writers Prediction League - Spurs at Southampton

The writers at Cartilage Free Captain predict the result for Tottenham Hotspur's match at Southampton

Mike Hewitt

A rough week for Tottenham Hotspur. A heartbreaking loss to Chelsea after leading, followed by a disappointing draw away to NK Maribor.

However, a game away to Southampton could be just the remedy to get Spurs back on track. Southampton, sitting 18th on the table, has struggled so far after returning to the Premiership. Goals have come for the Saints, led by Rickie Lambert's four. The defense though has been awful, allowing seven more goals than the second most porous defense.

As for the prediction league, only Kevin predicted a loss to Chelsea, giving him the lone point. The rules remain the same in the Prediction League--one point for a correct prediction, a bonus point for getting the score correct. Here are the current standings:

Name Score
Ashlock 6
Petrilli 5
The Roosevelts 4
Mechanick 4
Kevin 4
Ryan 3
Ed 3
Uncle Menno 2

This week's predictions:

Kevin: Sticking with my outlandish podcast prediction. 5-2 Spurs

Mechanick: Big Daddy Bale is going H.A.M. on the Saints. 3-1 Spurs

Ryan: If we lose, I'll jump off of a bridge and I'm taking you all with me. 3-1 Spurs

Ashlock: Remember the beginning of the season when we drew with a bunch of lesser teams because we didn't have Dembele? Yeah. That's what's going to happen. 2-2 Draw

The Roosevelts: Gareth Bale somehow manages to score for both teams. 3-1 Spurs

Ed: The Saints go marching into oblivion with a positive attacking game which is all ultimately in vain. 2-1 Spurs

Petrilli: A Southampton is a Southampton. It's not the beginning of the season anymore. 3-0 Spurs

Uncle Menno: Okay, anyone remember the Norwich game? Me either. 2-0 Spurs
