Happy Spursday, Spursland. Today, Tottenham Hotspur attempt to recover from their London derby loss against Chelsea with a much better result against Southampton at St. Mary's. The Saints have shown flashes of brilliance this year, but they've struggled in their return to the Premier League and are without injured star Gaston Ramirez.
Spurs' team only has one mild surprise, though it's hardly a shock. Brad Friedel is in goal over Hugo Lloris. Following his solid passing performance against Maribor, Tom Huddlestone will play the role of distributor in midfield in Moussa Dembele's absence.
Tottenham Hotspur starting XI (4-2-3-1): Brad Friedel; Jan Vertonghen, Steven Caulker, William Gallas, Kyle Walker; Sandro, Tom Huddlestone; Gareth Bale, Clint Dempsey, Aaron Lennon; Jermain Defoe
Bench: Hugo Lloris, Kyle Naughton, Michael Dawson, Jake Livermore, Andros Townsend, Iago Falque, Gylfi Sigurdsson
Southampton starting XI (4-4-2): Artur Boruc; Danny Fox, Maya Yoshida, Jose Fonte, Nathaniel Clyne; Adam Lallana, Steven Davis, Morgan Schneiderlin, Jason Puncheon; Jay Rodriguez, Rickie Lambert
Bench: Kelvin Davis, Jos Hooiveld, James Ward-Prowse, Guly do Prado, Emmanuel Mayuka, Richard Chaplow, Ben Reeves
Kickoff is at 3 p.m. local time, 11 a.m. ET. Things are a bit screwy today and until next Sunday because of time changes. Unfortunately, you cannot see this game on TV in the U.K. or Canada. It's on FOX Soccer Plus and FOX Soccer 2 Go in the U.S., and on FOX Sports 2 in Australia.
