Stuart Pearce has called in four players under contract with Tottenham Hotspur for his England Under-21 team, three of them currently playing with Spurs. Central defender Steven Caulker, right back Adam Smith, left back/left midfielder Danny Rose (on loan at Sunderland) and winger Andros Townsend were all called in for the Under-21 Euro 2013 playoff matches against Serbia.

The first leg of the playoff takes place on October 12 in Norwich, while the second leg takes place on October 16. Because it's a playoff, Pearce has been allowed to call in some senior team regulars, like Jack Rodwell, Jack Butland and Jordan Henderson. The Liverpool pair of Jonjo Shelvey and Raheem Sterling probably headline the side.

Said Pearce:

"Andros Townsend has also done well and has been around Tottenham's first team squad consistently this year. Nick Powell got his move from Crewe, to a massive club at United, and has made his first team bow. He has a really bright future. I'm really looking forward to bringing them into the squad to give us a lift. They couldn't come in at a more crucial time."

We'll learn about whether or not other Spurs players get full England call-ups in the next couple of days.
