Norwich vs. Tottenham Hotspur, 2012 League Cup: Lineups and match thread

Tom Carroll makes a surprise appearance for Tottenham against Norwich in the league cup. Come chat with CFC during the game.

Happy Spursday, Spursland. Today, Tottenham Hotspur take on Norwich City at Carrow Road in the League Cup. For those who missed the memo (read: the podcast where I screwed this up 10 times), the League Cup is now known as the Capital One Cup, not the Carling Cup, for sponsorship reasons. Instead of encouraging binge drinking, the Football League now encourages you to get into life-altering, crippling debt.

Here's the lineups.

Tottenham Hotspur starting XI (4-2-3-1): Hugo Lloris; Kyle Naughton, Steven Caulker, Michael Dawson, Kyle Walker; Jake Livermore, Tom Carroll; Gareth Bale, Gylfi Sigurdsson, Iago Falque; Clint Dempsey

Bench: Carlo Cudicini, Jan Vertonghen, Adam Smith, Tom Huddlestone, Aaron Lennon, Andros Townsend, Jermain Defoe.

Norwich City starting XI: (4-5-1): Mark Bunn; Steven Whittaker, Michael Turner, Ryan Bennett, Marc Tierney; Robert Snodgrass, Jonny Howson, Andrew Surman, Jacob Butterfield, David Fox; Steve Morison

Bench: Declan Rudd, Grant Holt, Simeon Jackson, Elliott Bennett, Javier Garrido, Leon Barnett, Alexander Tettey

I apologize for not having those Norwich players in a coherent order. I am not terribly familiar with their second team.

I'm happy to see that Defoe, Vertonghen and Lennon are being rested, and that Carroll is finally getting a shot. I'm not too happy to see Walker and Bale out there, but I'm not going to complain too much. They always appear to be the side's two fittest players.
