Tottenham Hotspur Team News: Adebayor Ready to Return

Emmanuel Adebayor is finally fit, but Tottenham will be without Mousa Dembele as they take on Wigan Athletic in the English Premier League.

Yesterday was Tottenham Hotspur manager Andre Villas-Boas' weekly press conference. He talked a little bit about the Carling One Cup match, but mostly he gave information on the state of the Tottenham Squad heading into the match against Wigan. The first bit of good news is that striker Emmanuel Adebayor will be fit and available for selection.

The Togolese striker has yet to start a match for Tottenham Hotspur this season due to a number of injuries, but should finally be at 100%. However, I don't expect him to start in this match. Jermain Defoe has been in excellent form thus far this season and will more than likely continue to be the starter.

The biggest bit of news is that Mousa Dembele is still not fit following a hip injury he received while he was on international with Belgium. Dembele has had scans on his hip and is hoping to avoid surgery that could rule him out for a further six weeks. Spurs could also be without Jake Livermore who sustained an ankle injury int he Capital One Cup match against Norwich City.

Tottenham's midfield is looking pretty depleted with those two injuries. A starting pairing of Sandro and Tom Huddlestone seems likely. Hopefully, Tom Carroll will find himself with a spot on the bench. The rest of the team is otherwise fit, though the club is still without Younes Kaboul, Scott Parker, and Benoit Assou-Ekotto through long-term injury.
