It's the return of Weezus! Gareth Bale is back in training and looks set to return to the team on Saturday when Tottenham Hotspur hosts Stoke City. The winger has not played since December 1, when he picked up a hamstring strain, and without him Spurs have struggled to break down their opponents. Now that the fixtures are set to pile up, every warm body counts, and Bale's counts double.
Joining Bale on the recently fit list is Michael Dawson, who also hurt his hamstring on December 1. He is also training again so it's been a busy week on the fields at New Spurs Lodge.
"Michael was injured in the same game as Gareth and they’ve both returned to training," Andre Villas-Boas said. "It’s great to have them back."
Emmanuel Adebayor isn't back in training yet, but Villas-Boas doesn't think he's in any danger of not playing against Stoke.
"He hasn’t trained with the team at the moment, hopefully he will train tomorrow. I don’t think he’s at risk of not being involved in the game.:
In other injury news, Benoit Assou-Ekotto and Scott Parker are nearing a return. Parker is a little farther along, having started with the U-21's earlier this week as he tries to get fit.
Spurs are starting to get fit. This is weird.
