Emmanuel Adebayor Says Nice Things About Staying At Tottenham

Emmanuel Adebayor has said he is going to the club that pays him the most. He tried to make it seem like it was a noble cause because it would be for family or charity or whatever. He has every right to get all the money he can for whatever reasons he wants. Good for him, but it makes signing with Spurs after the season a little but unrealistic, even if he says nice things about staying at Tottenham.

"I don't know. I've still got a contract with Manchester City and I'm a professional - whoever I play for I have to give it everything, and that's what I'm doing now at Tottenham," Adebayor told ESPN. "I would love to stay here but the power doesn't belong to me.

"I'm waiting for the summer to see what happens next. I just have to play well, make myself and my family happy. As long as I'm happy where I am, there is nothing more important than that."

If Adebayor wants to stay, I'm sure Spurs would love to have him, but he's going to have to take a serious pay cut to do it. Even if the club ups its wage cap by almost 50%, Spurs would only be able to pay him €100,000 per week or so. That's still a major pay cut, especially for a guy who said he is going to chase the money. This one looks highly unlikely, no matter how many nice things each side says.
