Tottenham Hotspur are in the toilet, or close to it. They have six points from their last eight league fixtures. They once had a massive lead in third place, and now sit in fourth, tied on points with Newcastle. They lost lost to promotion side Norwich City -- a team with a negative goal differential -- at home. Things are bad. BUT QUIT YOUR WHINING.

Jermain Defoe and Ryan Nelsen both had some quotes up on the team's official site today, saying the kinds of things players say after they lose games they're not supposed to. Maybe I'm just an eternal optimist (lol, no), but I want to believe that they believe all of the things that they're saying. I want to believe the team really wants to turn this around, that they understood what they did wrong, and that they're going to play better against Chelsea in the FA Cup semifinal.

Plus, Chelsea suck right now too, so that's comforting. Sup Clint Dempsey. Quotes after the jump.

Here's Jermain:

"I think it's important to regroup now and everyone has to stick together. We've had a fantastic season and we just need to think about how we've played before to win games. We've got to keep working hard, there are so many important games to play. We just need to try and get as many points as we can. We've just got to keep it going and try and forget about this result."

And here's Ryan:

"There will be a lot of twists and turns before the end of the season. It's easy to get very down about one result but what happens in two week's time, two game's time, it can be a whole different picture. What we've got to do is concentrate on ourselves, concentrate on winning, and hopefully remedying results like this."

I'm going to have pieces later on things that are going wrong and that I don't think are necessarily going to improve in the short term. I run a Spurs blog and Spurs aren't playing well, so these things have to be written. However, I am not writing off this team. They are in trouble right now. They're playing bad football, the players don't look their best, and there are good reasons for this. But the remaining schedule is not tough and they can get good enough results to scrape fourth without playing their best.

Believe in these dudes. Some of you who said we were toast said we were going to go on to grab third when we beat Swansea, and now that we lost to Norwich we're toast again? Those people will say that we're finishing third if we win this weekend, and if we lose they'll say that we're a lock for sixth. Get a grip and support the players, y'all.
