Stevenage FC have announced on their official club website that they will be hosting Tottenham Hotspur in a pre-season friendly at Lamex Stadium. The Tottenham first team, likely minus the players returning from competitive international matches, will take on the League 1 side on July 17th.
Tottenham defeated Stevenage in the FA Cup fifth round this season. Their manager is Gary Smith, the worst football manager on earth. Not in terms of managerial aptitude, but in terms of general likability. Recall: Stevenage hired former Colorado Rapids manager Gary Smith not long before the tie. Ryan Rosenblatt wrote a lot about how Gary Smith sucks. Stevenage fans proceeded to flame him, claiming he knew nothing about their team. Stevenage played anti-football for 180 minutes against us and did not score a goal in 180 minutes of playoff semifinal play against Sheffield United.
Why Tottenham would schedule a friendly against a team whose manager will probably play anti-football with players throwing elbows in a freaking friendly, I have no idea, but they did. We must vanquish Gary Rootbeer.
