UPDATE: More quotes from Jan Vertonghen on Tottenham

If you don't know what's going on, I'll catch you up real quick! Jan Vertonghen has been a target of Tottenham Hotspur for a long time. Daniel Levy is negotiating with his club, Ajax. On Friday evening, the fine folks of ESPN and Sky Sports passed along the news that Vertonghen will be coming to Tottenham in the next couple of days. Spurs fans rejoiced. Jan Vertonghen then tweeted that he is still an Ajax player and that we should not believe everything the press writes. Spurs fans freaked out.

Well, there's no reason to panic. Vertonghen is still probably coming to Tottenham, the deal just isn't as set in stone as ESPN and Sky indicated. Yahoo! Eurosport, unlike the gun-jumpers at ESPN and Sky, actually decided to print his quotes in a timely fashion, and the way they read, they probably posted them in decent context too. Eurosport has passed ESPN for credibility. The endtimes are near.

Here are all of Vertonghen's quotes from the Eurosport article, separated out.

"I probably know which team I will be going to, yes. I know where I want to go and I think it is clear to everybody ... [reporter asks if it's Tottenham] Yes."

"I am a big fan of the Premier League. It is almost the only competition I watch on TV and for me it is the best competition in the world. I would like to play in the Premier League. I am not in contact every day but I think it could be very close now, maybe a couple of weeks or maybe days."

So, there you have it. A little clarity.
