Maybe, this time, Jan Vertonghen is actually going to end up signing for Tottenham Hotspur. Various reports out of the Netherlands (here is one of them!) have Tottenham and Ajax agreeing to a fee for Vertonghen, who will presumably sign for the club shortly. There could be another twist in this story yet, since absolutely nothing at this club is ever cut and dry, but he'll probably be joining up in a day or two.

Can this finally be real this time? Please? Finally? Or are we going to see Ajax tweet out tomorrow that no fee has been agreed and that all of the reports are false? That would be the most Spursy thing ever, right?

The reported fee is €12 million, which sounds about right to me. Vertonghen's wages at Ajax aren't much, and we don't have to come close to our wage ceiling to offer him a very significant raise. Now let's announce this first thing Monday morning, yes?
