Thanks to our mates at Cottagers Confidential for giving an update to our earlier reported story on Tottenham Hotspur's interest in Trabzonspor striker Burak Yilmaz. The new info has Lazio bowing out of the sweepstakes, leaving London sides Spurs and Fulham negotiating for the striker.

We now have a more concrete price on Yilmaz, as the there is a reported €5 million ( £4m) release clause on his Trabzonspor contract. It will be interesting to see if Daniel Levy would pull the trigger on a transfer before having a manager in place. As we wrote before on the player:

"Yilmaz, 26, is a number 9 forward who has shown an ability to play wide. After an inconsistent start to his career, the Turk has had two consecutive phenomenal seasons, tallying 19 league goals in 2010-11 and 33 goals in this past season. Yilmaz has also started to emerge as a Turkish international, earning a starting striker position.

On paper he fills Tottenham's striker needs perfectly. He has the prototypical size to be a target forward, has played alone up top for club and country, and has a prodigious scoring rate. At age 26, he seems to be entering the prime of his career. However, although the Turkish league ranks among the better second-tier competitions in Europe, it is to be seen whether Yilmaz could make the jump in quality to the Premiership".
