Tottenham Hotspur probably should have sold Giovani dos Santos to a La Liga club a couple of years ago, but it looks like he's finally going to seal his White Hart Lane exit. Of course, he's been "close" to transfers to Spanish clubs on a number of occasions, so don't believe anything until a club announces it, but this seems super duper for realsies this time.

The Guardian, among other sources, are reporting that dos Santos has left Mexico's Olympic squad training camp to travel to Spain and seal a transfer to a new club. They're claiming that Atletico Madrid and Sevilla are both interested, clubs that would be good fits for Gio. He wouldn't be first choice for either, but would have an opportunity to play regularly. Neither is rolling in cash, but both have enough to throw €5-7m Euros at Daniel Levy.

Here's Mexico U-23 coach Luis Fernando Tena on the move.

"He asked us if he could complete the transfer from Tottenham to another team. He has to go to sign papers, he has to go to get them sorted out. The most important thing is his mental state. We never had a doubt when he told us. We told him: 'Go. Do it.' He told us the name of the club. I can't say which club[.]"

As the regular readers of this site know, I love Gio and I really hope he does well for his new club next year.
