Youssouf Mulumbu Reportedly In Talks with Spurs

Spurs' as-yet uninspiring transfer period did not just get a whole lot more interesting today as West Brom's 25-year-old Congolese midfielder Youssouf Mulumbu announced his desire to leave his current club, and claimed that he'd already had talks with both Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United.

In an interview with Mercato 365 magazine, with the quotes passed along by Sky Sports, Mulumbu stated: "We have already started talking to teams like Newcastle and Tottenham. For now, I'm leaving it all in the hands of my agent, and I hope to have good surprises on my return from vacation."

Mulumbu plays primarily as a defensive midfielder, just like Scott Parker and Sandro Ranieri, both of whom already play for us and are better than him. He's been capped 12 times for Congo and is now referred to as a 'former international player' for reasons of which I am unaware. That's all I have to say on this one guys. Don't know how far the talks are along, don't know what sort of fee Mulumbu would command, don't know how he'd fit in to our already-packed midfield roster, or our preferred tactical setup. Any ideas?
