Tottenham In For England U-19 Defender?

We don't have any pictures of Jamaal Lascelles, so here's the guy that managed him during his most recent loan spell, Gary Rootbeer.

Yeah, yeah, traffic-baiting headlines. I know. But if I printed the dude's name only the true footballing nerds of the world would care. The England U-19 central defender that Tottenham Hotspur are rumored to be pursuing is named Jamaal Lascelles, and he's currently on the books at Nottingham Forest.

According to the Daily Mirror (god, I know, shut up), Tottenham have already put in a bid for Lascelles, and Arsenal are battling them for his signature. Because, you know, Arsenal and Tottenham are always pursuing the exact same young players 100 percent of the time, according to the Mirror, the Star, the Sun and the Mail.

Lascelles is usually a central defender, but also played right back briefly during his loan spell at Stevenage. He played seven times from March onwards under our good friend Gary Smith, including appearances in the League One Playoffs. He's only played once for Forest, but has eight appearances for England Under-19.

I didn't catch the League One playoffs last year, so I have not seen Lascelles play. If you caught those games (or England U-19 games), let us know what you thought of Lascelles in the comments. I assume that any Premier League team that purchases Lascelles this summer will look to loan him back to a club in the Championship, perhaps even straight back to Forest as part of a purchase agreement.
