Tottenham Hotspur confirmed the releases of six professional players today, including first team striker Louis Saha. He's joined by Ben Alnwick, Oscar Jansson, Kudus Oyenuga, Mirko Ranieri and Jesse Waller Lassen as players who have left following the expiration of their contracts. Five academy players have also left without being offered professional contracts.
Two of the club's best young players, who made their debuts with the first team last season, have signed extensions. Cameron Lancaster and Ryan Fredericks have both signed new deals that run through 2014. Goalkeeper Jordan Archer has signed a contract that runs through this season. Four academy players have signed first year professional contracts as well.
Saha's release was confirmed by multiple reliable outlets before this announcement and wasn't surprising to anyone. He did a respectable job in his six months with the club, but isn't up to playing for a Champions League contender at this point in his career. I liked the little we got to see out of Fredericks and Lancaster this season, and I look forward to seeing more of them in the League Cup and Europa League.
Edit: Club release, which I forgot to link the first time because I am careless.
