Today should probably be dedicated to Ledley King much more than transfer rumors, but to be completely honest with you guys, I'm not feeling too up to writing about Ledley King at the moment. That will come. I'm going to put that off by writing about a transfer rumor that stinks: Emmanuel Adebayor reportedly wants more money than we can offer and is considering a move to Russia.
The potential deal that would send Adebayor to Tottenham Hotspur isn't dead, but there are hang-ups and Spurs might get some competition for his signature. The Telegraph is reporting that Lokomotiv Moscow are interested in Adebayor as well, and they're probably willing to pay him the equivalent of more than £100k a week.
A couple of other (admittedly less reputable) outlets are hinting that Spurs are never going to be able to meet Adebayor's wage demands. Both the Daily Mail and the London Evening Standard are reporting that Adebayor's wage demands are the hang-up in the transfer.
Adebayor has a bit of a tough decision to make, and it seems like he's torn. He'd like to continue playing football at the highest level, preferably for Tottenham where he knows and likes his would-be teammates, but he also wants to continue to make ridiculous amounts of money. If he was all about the money, he'd already be in Qatar or China, but he's enough about the money that he's not just going to take £70k a week and shut up about it.
Russia, and Lokomotiv Moscow in particular, is a great compromise between high-level football and stupid wages. I'd like to have Adebayor back for a £5m fee and reasonable wages, but at this point, I just want to see two strikers come in and I'm not terribly picky about who they are. Just sign some damn strikers already. Any strikers.
