Surprise! Tottenham Hotspur scouts were at the Brazil vs. Great Britain Olympic tune-up match in Middlesborough last night. Since it was a game featuring almost exclusively under-23 players, including three that are currently under contract with Tottenham and a couple others that we've reportedly bid for, I would expect Spurs representatives to be there. They could have additionally been scouting just about any other players on the pitch for either team, but you can guess what the Daily Mail has made their presence into!

Tottenham target £63m Brazil strike force of Hulk and Damiao

Yep, that's the Fail for you!

The best part about the Mail article is that there's literally nothing here. The headline is the only part of the article that even implies that Tottenham are attempting to acquire both players. It just lists expected transfer fees for both players. So, is this even really a transfer rumour?

What if Tottenham scouts wanted to check out Romulo? Or Ganso? Or Jack Butland? Or Joe Allen? Or Daniel Sturridge?

Honestly, the Mail could have claimed that Tottenham had serious interest in any of those players and that a bid was forthcoming and we would have believed them.
