Tottenham Hotspur have released their squad for their U.S. tour through the Los Angeles Galaxy, and it's a strong one. All of the team's senior players except for Luka Modric, the injured Scott Parker and those participating in the Olympics have made the trip to the United States, including a couple of youngsters. Here's the full roster.
GOALKEEPERS (4) - Jordan Archer, Carlo Cudicini, Brad Friedel, Heurelho Gomes
DEFENDERS (8) - Benoit Assou-Ekotto, Sebastien Bassong, Michael Dawson, William Gallas, Younes Kaboul, Kyle Naughton, Jan Vertonghen, Kyle Walker
MIDFIELDERS (10) - Gareth Bale, David Bentley, Tom Carroll, Tom Huddlestone, Jermaine Jenas, Aaron Lennon, Jake Livermore, Gylfi Sigurdsson, Andros Townsend, Rafael Van der Vaart
FORWARDS (2) - Jermain Defoe, Harry Kane
These friendlies are going to be a great opportunity for Kyle Naughton, who is fighting for a place on the roster. Andros Townsend, Harry Kane and Tom Carroll still count as Under-21 players and do not have to be given roster spots to be eligible for Premier League games this season. Jermaine Jenas and Sebastien Bassong are probably on the outside looking in at roster places, and I expect both of them to be sold or loaned out by August 31, but who knows what could happen if they have excellent preseasons?
The first game of Tottenham's preseason tour of the United States is on Tuesday, July 24 at 7:30 p.m. local time, 10:30 p.m. ET and 3:30 a.m. in the UK on Wednesday morning.
