Are you ready for the the most classic rag tabloid transfer rumor story ever? Because this is a really good one. Spanish tabloids AS and MARCA both claim that Nuri Sahin has agreed to join a Premier League side on loan, but neither paper is 100 percent committed to naming the club that he's going to. Because Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal are always chasing all of the same players, always, the clubs that he is linked to are Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal.
Sahin is not traveling to Lisbon with the Real Madrid team for a friendly, which lends a bit of credibility to this rumor, but it's still AS and MARCA. AS also says that Manchester United have been interested in Sahin. For Spurs fans hoping this is true and that he's coming to Tottenham, there's some very good news. Arsene Wenger has denied that he's signed Sahin on Arsenal's official website.
on Nuri Sahin rumours...
We did not sign anybody today, this report is wrong. We are not signing anybody at the moment - we are not close. In the future you never know.
I'm a really huge Nuri Sahin fan, and if Luka Modric is sold to Paris Saint-Germain or Madrid, he's an almost ideal replacement. I rate his positioning and tackling ability much higher than Joao Moutinho, and I think they're very comparable as passers. It would be a coup for the club. However, this is AS and MARCA, so take it with a grain of salt.
