Zeki Fryers Rumored To Be Close To Tottenham Switch From Manchester United

We've yet to hear this from reliable sources, but where there's smoke, there's fire. This Zeki Fryers thing is literally everywhere on the internet but the BBC, the big non-Mail papers and the official club websites, so I'm going to assume that it's a thing.

According multiple sources, Goal and the Daily Mail the biggest ones, Tottenham Hotspur have agreed to terms with Manchester United left back Zeki Fryers, who is out of contract at Old Trafford. Because he is 19-years-old, United are entitled to compensation, even though Fryers' contract has expired. The clubs are far apart on their valuation, so this transfer -- if it is indeed a thing -- will go to a tribunal.

Fryers was part of the United team that won the FA Youth Cup in 2010-11, and he appeared in six matches in all competitions for the Red Devils last season. It appears as if he's going to become the third highly touted youngster to leave the club in six months, following Ravel Morrison and Paul Pogba out the door.

The Goal article claims that he'll be making £20,000 per week at White Hart lane. Tottenham supposedly value Fryers at £2m, while United value him at £4-6m, so if these rumors are true, we'll probably end up paying United a fee in the range of £3-4m after a tribunal.

From what I know -- which is admittedly, not a ton -- Fryers also played a bit of central defense in the youth team. He's a good athlete, but has suffered multiple injuries. Leaving United for money, considering their history of promoting youth players and the 3-year average run of form that Patrice Evra is on seems like a poor decision to me, but if Daniel Levy, Tim Sherwood and Andre Villas-Boas think he's a good signing, I'm not going to complain.
