Rumour: Tottenham Table Hugo Lloris Bid?

It's from a paper that everyone dislikes even more than the Mirror or the Mail, but hey, it's a fun rumor! According to the fine folks over at The Sun, Tottenham Hotspur have bid £13m for Lyon goalkeeper Hugo Lloris. The Sun also claim that Lyon have put Lloris up for sale at a price of £16m, and that Daniel Levy is doing his normal thing by playing hardball with them.

This could be a case of "If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is". Getting Lloris for £13m would be a coup, and getting him for £16m would still be an excellent buy. He might be the best goalkeeper under 30-years-old in the world at the moment, and would be an excellent purchase. He seems a bit out of reach on first glance, but when you think about it, getting Lloris isn't that far-fetched.

Manchester United recently paid a lot of money for a young keeper, while Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City are all happy with their starters. Bayern Munich, Juventus, Inter Milan, Roma, Real Madrid, Barcelona and Valencia are all happy with their keepers as well. The only teams who could potentially compete with Tottenham, both with what they offer in footballing terms and finances, that could potentially be interested are AC Milan and Malaga. Milan might be satisfied with Abbiati, while big-name players in their primes still seem a bit reluctant to go to Malaga.

I'm not putting any stock in this rumor, because it's The Sun, but it's not all that unrealistic when you think about it.
