Tottenham Hotspur Manager Andre Villa-Boas has released a health update ahead of Spurs' season opener away to Newcastle United on Saturday. After a trying pre-season that saw players away at the Olympics and injuries accumulated on the US pre-season tour, the team is widely fit.

Scott Parker and Gomes, suffering from long-term injuries, are the only players officially out for the fixture as the rest of the squad is available for selection.

Concerns were raised after Gareth Bale left yesterday's Wales friendly with injury, while Kyle Walker, Gylfi Sigurdsson and Jan Vertonghen all played 90 minutes in their respective friendlies. But Villas-Boas seems none too concerned with any of Tottenham's 10 international selections from yesterday.

"We are assessing the players as they return, but there are no major things," said Villas-Boas before today's training session.

A massive return for Tottenham Hotspur is Sandro, who missed the entire pre-season for the Olympics and then a call-up for Brazil's friendly yesterday against Sweden. But Sandro played only two minutes, and should be in fine form and health. He will be needed in the Tottenham midfield with Parker out, Tom Huddlestone recovering his form and Jermaine Jenas failing to impress in pre-season.
