Why it took until August 21, nobody knows, but at least it's finally done. Rumors began leaking out this morning that Emmanuel Adebayor was set to complete his transfer to White Hart Lane, and Tottenham Hotspur have finally announced via their twitter account that the move has finally been locked up.
We are delighted to announce that we have completed the transfer of Emmanuel Adebayor from Manchester City. More to come soon!

The two sides had come to a disagreement about wages, holding up the transfer for an extended period of time, but it's great to hear that they've been able to come to an agreement. It's perfectly reasonable that Spurs didn't want to make Adebayor their highest paid player ever by a mile, and it's also understandable that Adebayor didn't want to cut his pay in half. We'll likely learn exactly what kind of wages he's getting in the coming days.
I'd like Tottenham to buy another striker, especially if Luka Modric and Michael Dawson are sold, but this is a good start. We've averted a crisis.
