UPDATE: Younes Kaboul out Saturday, along with Giovani dos Santos

Bad news out of Spurs Lodge, as defender Younes Kaboul has suffered a knee injury that has the Frenchman a doubt for Saturday's game against West Bromwich Albion. The defender apparently experienced knee pain in training and has gone to see a specialist over the issue.

This injury is a re-occuring problem for Kaboul, as consistent knee problems have haunted Kaboul through recent seasons. Knee problems forced Kaboul out of this summer's Euros. Tottenham supporters must hope this is not a case of defender deja vu after Tottenham legend Ledley King forced to retire this offseason due to persistent knee problems.

In Kaboul's stead Belgian defender Jan Vertonghen looks set to make his Tottenham debut. On the bench last Saturday against Newcastle United, Vertonghen looks likely to pair with William Gallas. Kaboul's injury could also throw into doubt Michael Dawson's departure, as Queens Park Rangers have launched bids for the central defender.

Along with the news about Kaboul, attacker Giovani dos Santos has pulled a calf muscle in training and will miss Saturday's game. In slightly better news, Scott Parker is apparently recovering well from Achilles surgery and will return to training in two weeks.
