Scott Parker Set For Achilles Surgery, Will Miss Six Weeks

A final meeting with a doctor confirmed what Andre Villas-Boas said was likely last week -- Scott Parker wlll undergo surgery. The Tottenham midfielder injured his Achilles at the end of last season and his play showed it, but he still played in the Euros. Only now, the injury is too much to play through and he's going to go under the knife to fix things.

Parker is set to have surgery next week and the recovery will take up to six weeks. If six weeks is indeed his timetable for return then he's aiming at coming back the week before Spurs play Reading on September 16, meaning he will miss three matches.

Losing our favorite World War II RAF pilot wont be too much of a blow to Spurs because it looked like Sandro was ready to pass him up anyways, but he will still be missed because his timing couldn't be worse. Sandro might not get back to Spurs until just before the opening match because he is playing with Brazil at the Olympics and Luka Modric still hasn't been sold, meaning a replacement hasn't been bought.

Right now, Spurs are looking at having only Jake Livermore, the still-recovering Tom Huddlestone, the fresh-off-of-the-Olympics Sandro and the pretty-please-don't-play Jermaine Jenas as the only available central midfielders when they open the Premier League season against Newcastle. Get well soon, Scotty.
