Real Madrid Make "Final Offer" For Luka Modric

According to a number of sources, including the Evening Standard, Real Madrid are fed up with Daniel Levy and his negotiating tactics when it comes to wantaway midfielder Luka Modric. Madrid President Florentino Perez has now issued a ‘take it or leave it’ offer of £30million. This offer is, clearly, nowhere near Tottenhams £40 million valuation of Modric.

As we all know Levy is a tough negotiator and this has never been more evident than in the ongoing Modric transfer saga. Last summer Chelsea got fed up with his negotiating tactics and it was only a matter of time until Real Madrid reached this point. I don't think this is actually Madrid's final offer, but you can never be too sure.

While many have believed that Luka Modric would not be wearing a Spurs kit when September 1st came it now seems increasingly likely that the diminutive Croatian will remain at White Hart Lane. If Real Madrid aren't inclined to pay £40 million for Modric, then it seems unlikely that any other club will. Both Chelsea and PSG have already spent a lot of money strengthening their respective squads leaving few clubs with the recuisit funds to sign Modric.

Where does this leave Tottenham Hotspur? Well, Spurs still don't have the £40 million pounds most were counting on from Modric's transfer, but they do still have their playmaker and their best player. That's something. Right?
