According to BBC Sport and BBC football reporter David Ornstein, Tottenham Hotspur have failed into their bid to sign Joao Moutinho. We'll certainly get more details as the night rolls on, but all we know (and let's be honest, we're not even certain of this) right now is that Moutinho probably won't be signing.

BREAKING: It appears Tottenham have missed out on signing Joao Moutinho from Porto to replace Modric.

I'm not sure if this has to do with Moutinho not wanting to make the move, Moutinho's agent getting greedy or Daniel Levy holding firm on a number. The clubs had reportedly agreed to a £22m transfer fee earlier in the day, which would have been a club record for Tottenham. The teams did not have a deal done by the deadline. Rumor has it that Spurs asked for an extension, and further rumor has it that the extension was granted. However, the two sides have been unable to agree to a deal.
