Happy Friday, Spursland! After five games we are now into the heart of the season. Gone is our much-needed streak of cupcake teams (Editor's note: mmmmmm cupcakes) that allowed Spurs to get their sea legs. Now is the time for the team to show what they are capable of. Either we are a top level team, or we are not. We know we have the talent to be, now we need to decide to be.

He wants to attack them because "that is how I like my teams to play". Well, um, not to be a Debbie Downer, but I don't think that is the smart move. I will be pulling as hard as anybody else for the win, but I think the best thing to do is play for the draw and look to break out. As a coach myself, when I have a kid go out against someone who completely outclasses them I don't tell them to "attack them". I tell them to try to catch their opponent in something funky and take advantage of the hoped-for mistake. Why? Because that is their only realistic chance at winning against opposition that outclasses them by so much.

Fact: the NFL is working, and rightly so, to make the game safer. Fact: implementing rules that state that the quarterback is a special delicate flower that shouldn't be hit is not the right way to do that and pisses people off.
So why doesn't the NFL follow its cousin, the sport of rugby, and mandate that tacklers must attempt to wrap up. It would cut down on the kind of leading with your head kill shots like the one seen in this link without discouraging touching the players who smile in our car commercials.
