Earlier today, there was an article published in the Miami Herald about Clint Dempsey and his transfer to Tottenham Hotspur. This article gained attention in the mainstream American soccer world when it was tweeted out by Sports Illustrated journalist Grant Wahl. In the article, Michelle Kaufmann claims that Dempsey's salary is $22.2 million over three years, which works out to roughly £90k per week.
If this sounds fishy to you, a Tottenham Hotspur supporter who has knowledge of the team's wage structure, that's probably because it is. Here, let Clint Dempsey tell you.

Hopefully someone clears this up and figures out exactly how much Dempsey is on. Not that it matters too much -- we know he's making more than he did at Fulham, but less than Gareth Bale. He's probably not cracking £90k a week, but it wouldn't be stunning if he was near our pre-Bale extension £70k/week wage ceiling.
And come on. Daniel Levy, give Dempsey £90k a week? You're having a laugh.
