The top dogs are coming to town. Manchester United looks unimpeachable, brushing the rest of the league aside with ease to the tune of a four point gap with a game in hand. Yet last time these teams played Spurs had their best result of the season, snatching a shock win in Old Trafford.
Manchester United has been led by their two-headed monster of a strike force, as Robin van Persie and Wayne Rooney have been dominant this season. With Rooney just recently returning, it is to be seen if they will combine to great effect or get in each other's way. The defense has returned to top standing, as Patrice Evra, Nemanja Vidic, and Rio Ferdinand have been sterling of late. Not to mention some great wing play by Shinji Kagawa and Antonio Valencia, which has only further bolstered the squad.
As for the Prediction League, only Kevin and Ed foresaw a draw vs. QPR. The rules remain the same in the Prediction League--one point for a correct prediction, a bonus point for getting the score correct. Here are the current standings:
Name | Score |
Ashlock | 18 |
Petrilli | 16 |
Mechanick | 14 |
Ed | 13 |
Ryan | 12 |
Kevin | 12 |
Uncle Menno | 11 |
The Roosevelts | 9 |
This week's predictions:
Kevin: Sigh. Agreeing with the consensus. 3-1 United.
Mechanick: Jan Vertonghen and Hugo Lloris steal a point for Spurs. 1-1 Draw
Ryan: No Sandro, no result. It's Dem Red Devils doe. 3-1 United
Ashlock: United's attack is scary good. Their defense is vulnerable, but not by enough. Also Spurs haven't done the double over United since 1990. 3-1 United.
The Roosevelts: My prediction? Depression. 3-1 United
Ed: 3-1 United. Nailed on.
Petrilli: United 3-1. I don't actually believe in this prediction, but if almost everyone else will pick it I'm just going tot stick with it and keep the playing field level.
Uncle Menno: That damned United. 2-1 Manchester.
