Schalke reject second Lewis Holtby bid

Daniel Levy has made another approach for Lewis Holtby, but again failed to meet Schalke's valuation

Even though Lewis Holtby is already guaranteed to be at Spurs come the summer, Daniel Levy and Andre Villas-Boas seem determined to land the playmaker in January.

After having an initial €1m bid turned down, Levy has come back in a second time only to see the bid once again rejected.

Schalke general manager Horst Heldt said:

Tottenham have only marginally improved their offer for Holtby, but it remains unacceptable for us. We will have to wait and see what happens.

I'm sure that means after Levy's initial €1m bid was turned down, he tried offering €1.1m the second time around. Schalke are believed to want somewhere around €2m for the player, so expect about nine more bids from Levy before finally closing the deal.

The sooner we get in Holtby, the better our Champions League prospects look. With another week left in the January transfer window, hopefully there's enough time for Levy to get it done.
