Former Manchester United defender Ezekiel Fryers has completed his long-anticipated move from Standard Liege in Belgium to Tottenham Hotspur. Spurs were heavily linked to the 20-year-old, nicknamed 'Zeki', over the summer and were rumored to have signed him on a free transfer from United, pending a tribunal. Fryers decided to avoid that process by moving to Belgium, and will now join up with the club he was supposed to sign for in August.
Standard got a few games out of Fryers and likely a decent fee for their role in essentially helping Spurs and Fryers to circumvent the transfer tribunal process. Manchester United probably aren't too pleased about this, but it's all in the game, yo.
Fryers has represented England at youth level up to Under-19 and played six times for Manchester United's senior team in his time there. He can play either left back or center back, and probably projects as a left back going forward. He'll start his Tottenham career in the developmental squad.
