Tottenham Hotspur departures: The Scrubs

Harry Redknapp wants a bunch of Tottenham Hotspur backups. Surprise, surprise. Hopefully he pays good money for them.

Ben Hoskins

This post is part of a deadline morning series on potential Tottenham transfers. You can find all of the posts in the series right here, as well as the initial post explaining this series right here.

Some of our players are not exactly worthy of their own standalone post in this series. I've taken it upon myself to include the group I've affectionately titled 'The Scrubs' into one post. We're hoping that we can get all of them sold. At the very least, loaned out. These are the dudes who don't have a place at Tottenham Hotspur, and probably never will.

David Bentley

Sky Sports news have talked about Harry Redknapp's interest in Bentley a few times already this morning. The Internet thinks that the fee is going to be £3m. If we get any kind of fee for Bentley, it's amazing. I'll be thrilled. Daniel Levy is kind of a wizard sometimes.

Jermaine Jenas

On loan at Forest, where he hasn't covered himself in glory or embarrassed himself. Hopefully there's someone out there who rates him who will pay a couple hundred pounds to nab him for their promotion campaign. More likely than not, we'll extend his loan at Forest, he'll play there until the end of the season, then walk on a free transfer.

William Gallas

Aw snap, I've gone and done it, calling Gallas a scrub. I don't think there's any chance he gets another start this season unless three other players all get injured. If someone wants him, we should let him go to clear his wages off the books. We pay him a decent amount of money.

Andros Townsend, Jake Livermore and Tom Carroll

Grouped together because none of them is really a scrub, but they're not going to get playing time this season. They might get Europa League run-outs (the former two especially if Tom Huddlestone leaves), but that's the extend of the potential playing time for either player. I'd like to see both of the central midfielders loaned out to one of the many Premier League teams that needs central midfield help. Queens Park Rangers, Stoke City, Fulham, Sunderland, West Ham and Reading could all use them. Townsend would be an impact sub for literally anyone, but I'm not sure who he'd start for.

The verdict - Can we clear these guys?: I like all of them but Gallas to exit today. Seriously. Go Go Gadget Levy!
