Andros Townsend having QPR medical: Sale or loan?

Spurs look set to send Andros Townsend to QPR, but it is unclear if it will be a loan or a permanent deal.

Andros Townsend is undergoing a medical at QPR, according to Sky Sports News, but it is unclear if he will join the Super Hoops on a loan or a permanent deal. Reports earlier in the day hinted at Townsend moving to Loftus Road and loan so odds are he will only be joining up with Harry Redknapp's side for the remainder of the season, but that is only an educated guess.

It would be silly for Tottenham Hotspur to sell Townsend right now. He is just 21 years old and has shown well in his rare appearances for the first team. He wouldn't sell for much money either and his wages are relatively low so money isn't much of a concern. At this point, he just needs to get playing time in the Premier League, which a loan to QPR would do for him.

The only concern if Townsend does exit, be it permanently or on loan, is what Spurs will do for cover on the wings. There isn't a true winger to step in if Gareth Bale or Aaron Lennon is hurt, forcing Clint Dempsey into a wide position.

Townsend still has to pass his medical before he can move, but it appears as if he will be a QPR player by the end of today. Hopefully that is just as a loanee.
