Ladies and gentlemen, Daniel Levy is officially a Jedi. FC Schalke 04 star Lewis Holtby, whose contract expires at the end of this season, will be joining Tottenham Hotspur on a free transfer in July pending a medical. The rumored deal was announced by the club on Twitter today.

Grabbing a player of Holtby's quality on a free transfer is absolutely stunning, and a ridiculously good piece of business. He's broken into the extremely deep German national team on a few occasions, he's just 22-years-old, he can play in attacking midfield or on either wing, and he's had a few great seasons already in the Bundesliga, for Schalke and Mainz. This is an absolute coup.
For those asking where Holtby will play with the other talent already in attacking areas on the team, we'll address that at some point, but it's not terribly relevant at the moment. When you have an opportunity to get top class players at insane value, you take it, regardless of what you already have. Levy took it. He's a magician.
