Adebayor heading to Africa Cup of Nations after all

Adebayor's will he, won't he saga continues.

The question over Adebayor's participation in this year's African Cup of Nations may at long last be answered. Ameyi Gabriel, head of the Togo Football Federation, has reportedly said that Adebayor will in fact be linking up with the national squad as their captain.

Of course we're in the African Nations Cup with Adebayor, we will be together in South Africa," head of the Togo Football Federation, Ameyi Gabriel, is reported to have told Radio Algeria International. "It is very important to have him there because he is our player and captain of the team."

So if we're to assume that the head of Togo's Football Federation has any idea what he's talking about, we look to be without the services of our Togolese striker for up to a month. Still, nothing is certain until Adebayor confirms the rumor or gets on a plane to Africa.

With Adebayor's departure leaving Jermain Defoe as our only recognized striker, it may be time for Daniel Levy to dip back into the transfer market. The links with Leandro Damiao have resurfaced in recent weeks, and maybe this will be the window we finally snag our elusive Brazilian unicorn. Or maybe Louis Saha is available for a loan.
