Writers Prediction League: Liverpool vs. Tottenham Hotspur

The writers at Cartilage Free Captain predict the result for Tottenham Hotspur's match vs. Liverpool.

Clive Brunskill

Three consecutive victories in all competitions has things looking rosier around White Hart Lane. The team has found some consistency offensively, tallying multiple goals in five consecutive matches. Roberto Soldado and Lewis Holtby have began to show glimpses of a rare vein of form in recent matches. However, Jan Vertonghen's injury has certainly weakened the Spurs defense.

Today sees Spurs host Liverpool. The Reds sit in 5th place, just three points out of second place. Liverpool have been paced by their dynamic strike duo of Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge, who have combined for 24 league goals. The team is boosted by its dynamic midfielders like Gerrard, Coutinho, and Lucas. Its weakness may come in the back though, as defense has shown worrying signs throughout the season.

As for the Prediction League, Mechanick grew his lead with a winning prediction. The rules remain the same in the Prediction League--one point for a correct prediction and a bonus point for getting the score correct. Here are the current standings:

Name Score
Mechanick 14
The Sleeper's Sleep 12
MCofA 12
Uncle Menno 12
Ed 11
Ryan 11
Skipjack 10
Petrilli 10

Ashlock 9
Lennon's Eyebrow 8
The Roosevelts

This week's predictions:

Ed: 3-3 Draw and fans of both sides are angry and sad about it for some reason

Kevin: 1-1 Draw, and both fanbases say it's an injustice and they were the better team

Mechanick: Soldado breaks out, leading Spurs to victory. 3-2 Spurs

Ryan: I have this theory, that if you cut off all her hair she'd look like a British man. 2-1 Spurs.

The Roosevelts: "Half a sausage?! ... Ugh" Winston Churchill 3-2 Spurs

Ashlock: My prediction league form may continue to suffer, but when I predict a loss, we win. Liverpool 3-1

Lennon's Eyebrow: Liverpool crumble against teams that don't suck. 2-1 Spurs.

Petrilli: Spurs 2-1. Suarez takes a bite out of crime as well, finding a way to arrest Julian Assange.

Uncle Menno: I just watched "Mean Girls" for the first time last week and finally understand Ryan's predictions. 2-1 Spurs.

MCofA: 2-1 Spurs. I still think we're good at football

The Sleeper's Sleep: Tottenham meet Liverpool, who are second only to Arsenal in both the League & Insufferability tables. Justice prevails. 3-1 Spurs.

Skipjack: 2-1 Spurs. Racism/Cannibal joke.
