Tottenham Hotspur vs. Southampton: Lineups and match thread

Come chat with Cartilage Free Captain as the Tim Sherwood era begins in earnest. Run around a bit in the comments and express yourselves. But do remember the words of Bill and Ted and be excellent to each other.

So, Tim Sherwood knows how to create a twitterstorm don't he? Tottenham Hotspur travel to face one of the Premier League's best defensive sides at their home ground, and he runs out the Ossie Ardiles lineup. No one is really sure how these guys will line up, but there certainly are a lot of creative players there.

Sherwood said before the match, "When they get the ball forward, I want them to express themselves." Welcome to the new era, the revolution begins. I hope it's one of the good ones.

Southampton are playing a relatively weak side with Jose Fonte out and Jos Hooiveld in central defense, so they'll have their hands full with Spurs all-attacking all-creating lineup. Spurs, in turn, will have quite the job to do in midfield against the central three of Davis, Cork and Schneiderlin.

Also that's Nabil Bentaleb and Ryan Fredericks making the bench. #YOMO.

Kickoff is at 1:30 p.m. local time, 8:30 a.m. ET from St. Mary's. You can catch the game on Sky Sports 1 in the UK, NBC Sports Network in the US and Sportsnet World in Canada. It's also streaming online on those networks' internet streaming services.
