Want-Away Winger Set For Blackburn Move

David Bentley is back from Russia and now might be joining former club Blackburn Rovers on loan.

It has been quite some time since Tottenham Hotspur winger David Bentley has made any sort of impact for the club that made him their record signing in 2008. The 28 year-old English player has spent quite a bit of time on loan in the last couple years, none of which have been particularly successful. There doesn't seem any hope for him to regain any sort of place at Tottenham Hotspur, so perhaps going back "home" would be good for him.

Bentley, as I'm sure many of you know, began as an Arsenal academy player. It was, however, during his time at Blackburn Rovers that his career really took off and saw him become Tottenham's record signing. Now, it seem like Bentley will be returning to Blackburn on loan for the rest of the season.

Rovers, who were relegated from the Premier League last season, sit 8th in the Championship table, six points out of the playoff places. Rovers tend to the aging Morten Gamst Pedersen in the right midfield role and Bentley might have to do some good work to displace the Norwegian. No matter what Bentley needs to continue playing games. Tottenham want to get some value out of him at some point and the best way to do that is to put him in the shop window. Maybe Q.P.R. will buy him in the summer.
